Royal Intervention takes Listed prize
02 July 2018
ROYAL Intervention ran out an impressive winner of the Listed Empress Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon.
Trained by Ed Walker, the daughter of Exceed And Excel finished a pleasing second at Lingfield on debut but stepped up markedly on that effort to win in style.
She made almost every yard of the running under Gerard Mosse and quickened away smartly to win by four and a half lengths.
Simon Marsh, general manager of Watership Down Stud said: “She is a very nice filly. She hit the rising ground and off she went. She did it well in front and settled nicely in front.
“Gerald said to leave her at six for now. There are plenty of options. Ed will make those decisions and we will discuss it with him. She is from a lovely family and has got a lovely pedigree. She has now got black type and speed so she is exciting.”
Royal Intervention runs in the colours of Lord Lloyd-Webber but is owned in partnership with Bill Farish. She is a half-sister to eight winners including to Grade 1 Beverley D winner Gorella and a further three stakes horses.
