Lah Ti Dar in a league of her own at York
24 August 2018
LAH TI DAR showed her rivals a clean pair of heels when taking the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes in impressive fashion at York yesterday afternoon.
Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber’s homebred filly has been off the track since winning the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket in May having previously won on debut at Newbury’s Greenham meeting.
She could not have brought up the hat-trick in better fashion, winning by no less than ten lengths under Frankie Dettori.
Frankie always had Lah Di Dar to the fore where she travelled strongly and moved smoothly to the lead with over two furlongs to run.
When asked to quicken clear, Lah Di Dar showed instant acceleration to put the race to bed in a matter of strides.
Trainer John Gosden said: “She did everything right. She was very ill and very down with herself with a virus, but she's come back in great order.
“We'll consider the St Leger, there's other routes but it's an appealing race for her - a filly fresh in the autumn - and she certainly wasn't having any trouble with the distance there.
“She was very sick, but she now comes very fresh into the autumn. There's every reason to suggest she'll stay in training.”
Lah Di Dar is a daughter of Dubawi and multiple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi. She is a full sister to Group 3 winner So Mi Dar and exciting juvenile Too Darn Hot.
Their full brother will be offered for sale at Tattersalls Book 1 in October. (Lot 325)
Too Darn Hot shines on debut
14 August 2018
TOO DARN HOT could not have made a more impressive racecourse debut when taking the mile maiden at Sandown on Thursday evening.
Running in the colours of Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber, Too Darn Hot had been showing the right signs at home and as a result was sent off the 8/11 favourite.
He was always to the fore under Frankie Dettori getting a lead off the more experienced Fraser Island.
When that rival folded with two furlongs to run, Frankie was left with no choice but to kick for home.
Too Darn Hot showed an instant turn of foot to streak clear and win by seven lengths.
To Darn Hot heralds from one of Watership Down’s top pedigrees being by Dubawi out of star multiple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi. He is a full brother to Group winners So Mi Dar and Lah Ti Dar and half brother to De Treville.
