Watership Down Stud homebred Too Darn Hot has been confirmed as the European Champion Two-year-old of 2018.

The World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, which were revealed this week, saw Too Darn Hot given a rating of 126, equal to that of Frankel and Dream Ahead back in 2010.

Trained by John Gosden, the son of Dubawi won all four of his starts as a juvenile, culminating with an impressive victory in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket in October.

The BHA two-year-old handicapper Graeme Smith said: “I don’t think many would disagree that Too Darn Hot is probably one of the great two-year-olds of the last 30 years. In what promises to be an above-average Classic crop he already sets a lofty standard with the potential of better to come.”

Too Darn Hot is a son of multiple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi. His yearling full brother was sold for 3.5million guineas at Tattersalls last October – the highest price in Europe last year.
